Northern Cyprus has become increasingly popular as a place
to purchase real estate, this is particularly so in the area
around Kyrenia where the seascape and mountains provide views
that are not surpassed anywhere.
This investment provides the keystone of the local economy
and is welcomed by both the government and local populace.
The market provides the opportunity to acquire a home for
either holiday or permanent residence and Kyrenia is proving
particularly attractive as a retirement base.
There is a market for letting both for holidays and the
longer term. Local taxation does not apply to earnings and
pensions originating outside the TRNC, tax on local income is
15% while local authority and utility charges are low. Because
there are differing categories of property and title the
advice of a reputable estate agent is strongly recommended and
the services of an independent solicitor will both confirm the
advice given by that estate agent and obtain the necessary
approvals from government.
