Summers in Cyprus last for approximately six months, and
during the hotter months of July and August a light summer
breeze brings relief from the heat, not only along the coast
but also on the mountain ranges. Even during the winter months
of December through February the climate is much milder than
in Northern Europe and if one is brave, swimming and sun
bathing is often possible in places sheltered from the winds.
Light shorts, trousers, skirts and tops, are recommended
for daytime wear in Spring, and Autumn but warmer clothing
(jumpers) is necessary in the evenings. July and August are
the hottest months when the visitor will need only the
lightest of clothing, - shopping in bikinis is regarded as bad
taste! - and from December through to February the weather is
quite cool so rainwear and warm clothing is necessary.
